About 5.0

THINK ABOUT TOMORROW TODAY

Vision: Creating a sustainable world in which our economic activities do not limit the opportunities of future generations.

Mission: Enabling people in emerging economies to create a sustainable future through collaboaration, investment and education.

“More than 20 years of setting up photovoltaic systems worldwide inspired us to expand the idea of solar energy and focus on renewable energy and sustainability in a broader sense. Taking advantage of our expertise and large network of specialists in the field of renewable energies, 5.0 takes on meaningful projects in upcoming economies that have a real impact.”

5.0 understands the importance of education on the journey to a sustainable future.

What makes the Five Point Zero Group so special? 5.0 is not just another renewable energy company. This project is very close to Torsten Herfert’s heart, who has always put his passion for sustainability and innovation into action to contribute to a better future.

With this in mind, the collaboration with the 'Deutsche Akademie für digitale Bildung GmbH' (DADB) was born, preparing the new generation for a future that demands an innovative approach.

Our goal is to use modern technologies to contribute to a sustainable future and the responsible use of the earth's finite resources – bringing to the world innovations that matter.

Contributing to a sustainable world in which our economic activity does not reduce the opportunities of future generations.

Our goal is to empower people all over the world to achieve more self-determination and growth through sustainable energy solutions.

Philosophy

Electricity is the engine of today’s economy. It drives growth and development and improves living conditions. However, we need to change the way we generate electricity in order to secure the future of both the environment and its people. Renewable energies are therefore the foundation for a sustainable economy. By making renewable energy accessible, 5.0 Renewables aims to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable and fairer world.

Company

Five Point Zero Renewables emerged from the Sunotec Group in 2020, which has been realising international photovoltaic projects for many years. We can look back on experience from over 100 projects worldwide, generating more than 2 GW system output.
It is our mission to contribute to a sustainable, clean electrification of our world by using modern technologies. Our primary focus is the development and realisation of sustainable energy projects in Africa, concentrating on photovoltaics and biogas production. At the same time we are also developing new Photovoltaic Projects in Germany, thereby promoting innovations that matter.

Philosophy

Education is not only a basic human right, but also plays an integral part in sustainable development. It improves the quality of people’s lives and will bring great social benefits not only for the individual, but also society as a whole. Education fosters creativity and entrepreneurship and might lead to mutually beneficial global partnerships. It is our mission to inspire and support the sharing of knowledge and contribute to a fairer world in which future generations can strive.

Project

In line with our philosophy the Five Point Zero Group acquired a 20 percent stake in the Berlin based start-up ‘Deutsche Akademie für digitale Bildung GmbH’ (DADB) in 2021. The program ,Bringing German knowledge to upcoming markets’, allows outstanding German professors and experts from various industries to share their knowledge on future relevant topics with students in emerging economies in Africa and Asia.

This combined teaching method prepares future generations to face the challenges in a rapidly changing world – all according to the key principle ‘education today, brighter future tomorrow’.

Ilmenau photovoltaic system, Thuringia / Germany

In December 2020, the last of the 1950 solar modules for our 750 kWp roof system were installed in Ilmenau, Thuringia. The connection to the grid is scheduled for May 2021. A second construction phase with approx. 1,000 kWp is planned for the second half of 2021.

Berbera hybrid power plant, Somalia

Together with our partner DHybrid from Munich, we at 5.0 Green Energy (former Sunotec GmbH) have brought to fruition this 1 MWp open space project at the port of Berbera in Somaliland in Spring 2021. We worked together with our Kenyan colleagues from the Sunotec Group, and installed this project both mechanically and electrically. With the combination of the DHybrid battery container and a modern diesel power plant, a reliable alternative power supply was created for the residents of Berbera. Diesel consumption was considerably reduced, resulting in substantial power supply cost savings.
